In this article I will review the Wera 7515 Kraftform Safe-Torque Speed Torque screwdriver with a range 2-6 Nm making this an ideal torque screwdriver for bikes. I have a Ritchey Torque Key (in 5 Nm) and for a 4 Nm you would need to get an additional Torque Key. The Wera 715 is an all-in-one with 5 preset torque values.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Key Features Wera 7515 Kraftform Safe-Torque Speed Torque screwdriver
The article description on the Wera 7515 Kraftform Speed Torque Screwdriver provides a high level and brief summary of the key features:
- Torque screwdriver with quick torque adjustment;
- Easy and quick torque setting;
- Fixed position (Torque Lock) for unlimited tightening and loosening moments;
- Secure slip-over torque function for clock wise/anti clockwise torque control;
- Quick and easy setting of the selectable tightening torques (2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 Nm);
- For bits with a 1/4″ external hexagon drive, also socket wrench inserts via adapter;
First your recognize directly that this is a Wera product by the used green color in the kraftform pattern. The kraftform handle is also found on the Wera Zyklop 8000 Speed Ratchet or even the Wera Bottle Opener with Kraftform Handle. For me the most important things with a screw driver is the handle, so you have a good grip and sufficient volume in the palm of your hand to apply the torque on the screwdriver. And the Wera 7515 kraftform handle will probably be close to the Hazet 2262 Screwdriver handle.
The bitholder is a 1/4″ hex bit holder so I can use the Wera 7515 Kraftform Safe-Torque Speed Torque screwdriver with my PB Swiss Tools precision bits. I have a couple of longer 25 mm Precision Bits that I use in combination with the Stahlwille Manoskop 730N/2 Mechanical Torque Wrench 2-20 Nm. A pair of high quality bits is required for this tool.
With a sliding button you can set the different pre-set torque values (from 2.0 Nm up to 6.0 Nm). This is very easy, but it also feels like a robust button and mechanism, where you lock-in the required torque setting. What is unique for the Wera 7515 Kraftform Safe-Torque screwdriver is the clock-wise and anti-clock-wise torque control. Most torque tools just have one rotational direction to torque. In addition the torque lock function is especially helpful when you want to loosen a bolt again. This is also not possible with the most torque tools.
The animation above with open internals shows you the functioning of the Wera 7515 Kraftform Safe-Torque Speed Torque screwdriver.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point of the Wera 7515 Kraftform Safe-Torque Speed Torque screwdriver with a range 2-6 Nm was € 62,90 at Alternate. This is a very sharp price when you compare it with the price point of a single Ritchey Torque Key of € 18,00 – € 23,00.
Having the different pre-set torque settings with common values 2.0 Nm, 4.0 Nm., 5.0 Nm. and 6.0 Nm. the Wera 7515 Torque screwdriver is a must have tool for every home mechanic, that will save you money on multiple pre-set torque tools that can cover the same range. And it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but the Torque Lock function is very functional when you are working on your bikes (without switching tools).
