“The Fibre Lyte replacement gear mech. plates are made from 2.4 mm carbon fibre, typically plain weave for Shimano and Sram and 2×2 twill weave for Campagnolo with titanium inserts for threads (where threads are required).”
In the picture above you can see both the FL Gear Mech Plate for Dura Ace 9000 (on the left) and the stock aluminum gear mech plate of the Dura Ace 9000 (on the right). You probably notice that the I’ve ordered a version with a chain guide at the bottom rear derailleur pulley. There is also a version without chain guides and there is an ultra light version that weighs just 2 grams.

Installation Fibre Gear Mech Plate for Dura Ace 9000
The installation of the Gear Mech Plate for Dura Ace 9000 is a piece of cake and takes you 5 minutes.
- You simply loosen the pulley bolts with a 3 mm. allen key, that are marked with #12 in the exploded view of the Shimano Dura Ace 9000 rear derailleur;
- You switch out the stock gear mech plate with the Fibre Lyte version;
- You tighten the pulley bolts, according to tightening torque in the dealer manual, 2.5- 5.0 Nm;
You can also do the replacement fairly easy when you have your (road)bike in a workstand with the rear derailleur still attached to the bike.
