In this article I will share my thoughts about Muc-Off Glue & Sealant Remover that I used when I changed the Maxxis Rambler 28″ 40C Tubeless Ready EXO Dual 120 Folding tires that I use during summer for the Vittoria Mezcal Gravel Endurance TLR Graphene 2.0 which are better in wet conditions (and overall a very good performance).

This non-aggressive proprietary formula helps remove rim tape glue, sealant or tubular glue residue from inside rims (and many other surfaces) prior to applying Muc-Off Tubeless Rim Tape. Safe to use on most metal, plastic and carbon fibre surfaces.
Interesting to know that the Muc-Off Remover will also work with tubular glue residue, however I have not tested this scenario, simply because I don’t own a tubular wheelset.
But you cannot install a tubeless tire with sealant (Stan´s Notubes Race Day Tubeless Sealant or Silca Ultimate Tubeless Sealant) without spoiling some sealant on the rim. A cloth with Muc-Off remover will be your best friend to have a undisputable clean finish of the rim sides.
In practice Muc-Off Glue & Sealant Remover
When I changed the Maxxis Rambler 28″ 40C Tubeless Ready EXO Dual 120 Folding tires that I use during summer for the Vittoria Mezcal Gravel Endurance TLR Graphene 2.0 which are better in wet conditions (and overall a very good performance), I used the Muc-Off Glue & Tubeless Sealant Remover to clear the Silca Ultimate Tubeless Sealant around the Peaty’s x Chris King MK2 Tubeless Valves.
The majority of sealant rests I could simply remove with a piece of cloth. Just like the instruction video above, it is a matter of spraying the Muc-Off Remover on the spot, allowing it some time to do the heavy lifting, and than rubbing it of the tubeless valve back with a piece of cloth.
The scenario of glue removal I haven’t tested. I’ll probably would have preferred the same spray can nozzle as the Dynamic Chain Cleaner Spray Can which has a narrower application.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point of Muc-Off Glue & Sealant Remover is € 10,00 – € 12,00 for a spray can of 200 ml. in recognizable Muc-Off colors. It is one of these maintenance items that will help you with the difficult to clean places, but also good to have when you are running a tubeless set-up for mountain bike and gravel bike.
