Sigma Nugget II Flash Rear Light

In this article I will share my thoughts about the use of the Sigma Nugget II Flash Rear Light and it installation. Now that the days are getting shorter it is extremely important to be visible on the road. The Sigma Nugget II is a small and practical rear light, which you can easily clip on your seat post.

#MODEVISIBILITY RANGEBURN TIME

Remarkable is the ring shaped structure on the outside of Sigma Nugget II Flash Rear Light. This is Fresnel lens is a unique

The Fresnel lens specially developed by Sigma […] ensures good light distribution in extremely small spaces. Its lateral visibility, which goes well beyond 220°, is particularly noteworthy.

On the top of the Sigma Nugget II Flash you can see two battery symbols, that will give you and indication of the battery status. The left one shows you a battery status 71%-30% where the right battery status indicator shows the 30%-0% of battery power. Always good to check the charge level before you go out on a ride (in the dark). Luckily the Sigma Nugget II has a short charging time.

I only cannot comment yet on the long term waterproofness of the micro USB port. While the rubber backside of the Sigma Nugget rear light is also the seal for the micro USB port, I didn’t test it during a Dutch autumn and winter with rain and mud. Gut feeling tells me it is a decent seal to keep the water out.

Installation Sigma Nugget II Rear Light

Just like some bike computer stem mounts, speed- or cadence sensors, the installation of the Sigma Nugget II Flash rear light is with a simple rubber o-ring that will be clamped around the seat post (and secured behind the hooks of the Nugget II). Easy and monkey proof process.

What helps is the rubber backside of the Sigma Nugget II Flash, that provides grip and the round cut-out in the middle will hold the rear light against the seat post, while wrapping the rubber o-ring around the seat post.

You can get a spare o-ring set from Sigma for the price-point of € 2,25 which is 20% of the overall Sigma Nugget II price ?

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up

The price point of the Sigma Nugget II Flash Rear Light is € 9,00 – € 12,00 which is superb value for money. Compact, lightweight and easy to install on multiple seat post-diameters. If there is 1 item I would like to have Sigma improve, than it would be the micro-USB port (where the standard connector in 2024 is USB-C).

In one of my next online purchases I will check to get me a spare o-ring set for the Sigma Nugget II Flash Rear Light.

  • What rear light are your using on your road bike, mountain bike, gravel bike ?
  • Do you use another Sigma light ?

The Sigma Nugget II Flash Rear Light is the perfect duo with the RAVEMEN FR300 front light, which is simply snapped onto your K-Edge bike mount for Garmin Edge or Wahoo Elemnt cyling computers.
