In this article I will share my thoughts on the Wahoo Garmin Quarter Turn Mount Adapter for Wahoo Elemnt and Wahoo Roam cycling computers. With the Quarter Turn Mount Adapter you can use Wahoo devices on Garmin Mounts. And sometimes this is an accessory simply needed.

With this adaptor piece, you are able to easily convert any Garmin quarter turn bike computer mount to a Wahoo bike computer mount.
The computer mount interface (backside of the computer that locks into the mount) of Garmin and Wahoo is exactly the same. The only difference is that locking mechanism shape has been rotated for 45 degrees or a quarter turn.
The Quarter Turn Mount adapter adds 3 grams to your set-up (and a bit of height). Where the stock Wahoo Elemnt Bolt Computer Mount perfectly integrates with the Elemnt Bolt computer aerodynamically, this is less the case with the Garmin Edge Mount Viber or K-Edge Race Mount. However for me as an amateur cyclist these aero gains/losses will not make a difference.
If for example you are running an integrated Canyon cockpit with only a Garmin computer mounts available, than this little adapter makes a huge difference. You don’t want to invest in a new cockpit or holder that integrates less. I haven’t seen a replaceable mount insert on the Canyon website.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price-point of the Wahoo Garmin Quarter Turn Mount Adapter is € 15,00, which is fair if for example you are running an integrated Canyon cockpit with only a Garmin computer mounts available.
Or like me … I’m using a “custom” Garmin Edge Mount Viber for the PRO Bikegear Vibe Stem. Production and support of this computer mount has stopped and I’m using both a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt v2 and a Garmin Edge 840 on my Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 8. The Quarter Turn Mount Adapter saves the day for both scenarios and just one computer mount.
If you look at computer mount brands like K-Edge, Framesandgear or ClosetheGap, you will see they offer replaceable mount inserts for Garmin and Wahoo, for the price point of € 6,00 – € 12,00. So if you have the option, go for a premium brand computer mount.
