In this article I will share my thoughts about the Oakley Latch Prizm Custom Design sunglasses from my preferred brand Oakley. During the 2024 Tour de France we’ve seen World Tour cyclist Mathieu van der Poel wearing the Oakley Latch with yellow TdF branding during a couple of interviews.

Key features Oakley Latch
On the Oakley Latch product page one can read this description:

The first thing you experience when you put on the Oakley Latch sunglasses is the low weight. On my kitchen scales I just see 22 grams, it is lighter than the Radar EV Path sports sunglasses at 28 grams and lighter than the Holbrook XL glasses. I really like the simplicity and minimalistic look of this model, and it is extremely comfortable to wear.
As of the Oakley Radar EV Path Prizm Road I’m a huge fan of the Prizm Lens Technology, so in the customer design I certainly opted for that. Fun fact, when you are driving in the car you will certainly experience the difference between a Prizm and a non-Prizm lens. So Prizm technology is the way to go for me, and personally I prefer Prizm over polarized in terms of value.
Another advantage of the Oakley Latch is that you can put prescription lenses in the Oakley Latch. so if you are wearing glasses you are covered with these sunglasses.
Oakley Custom Design – wizard in 7 steps from Prizm Lens to Microbag
I decided to go for Personalized Custom Latch Sunglasses since there was a special discount that made me getting a custom designed Oakley Latch Prizm that was even cheaper than the default ones available from the Oakley store. For me it was the first time ordering a custom design, and it was a super easy process:
- Setting: Matte Black
- Lens Type: Prizm
- Spectacle lens: Prizm Grey
- Add Lens Engraving: No
- Clips: Matte Black/Satin Chrome
- Selection of eyeglass cords: No
- Microbag: White Custom
As you can see in the screenshot, it is basically a wizard like process which guides you through building the custom design and colors. For me it were only 7 steps, selecting the things that are important to me. When you are satisfied about the design, you simply continue the order like any other purchase from the Oakley online store.
The shipping time, despite the personalized custom design, was fast and not different from a standard order.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The Personalized Custom Latch Prizm sunglasses have a price-point of just below € 150,00, while the normal Oakley Latch sunglasses retail for just above € 170,00.
So it is worthwhile to check-out the custom versions of Oakley sunglasses as well (if there is a custom model you would like to won). The personalized custom process is easy and the shipping has been fast just like a standard order.
- Oakley Radar Path EV with Prizm Road lens
- Oakley Radar Path EV with Trail torch lens (for mountain bike and gravel bike)
- Oakley Drop Point
The Oakley Latch Custom Design is another great addition to my collection of Oakley sunglasses that I use for sports and recreative activities (as of the early 1990’s when I bought an M-frame and SubZero). The fit, the solid view (in whatever angle) and the eye protection is simply world-class.
