This product description on the protectionfilms24.com website provides an excellent overview of the key features of the Brotect Screenprotectors.
What I personally like is that the screen protector sheet is very thin, especially compared to some of the glass versions available. And the anti glare option is providing me with good visibility when outside, while the surface is also more grippy. On my Apple iPad Pro this also gives a much more smoother writing experience when using the Apple Pencil. So anti-glare is a no-brainer. 🙂
How to install Brotect Screen Protector on Garmin Edge 840 / Garmin Edge 540
In the good old days when Brando Workshop was providing one of the best screen protectors around (in the iPAQ 3970 timeframe), I always applied screen protectors in the bathroom after a hot shower. This minimizes the risk of dust floating in the air (where the shower steam basically takes care of this).
- Clean the touchscreen surface of the Garmin Edge 840 (or Garmin Edge 540) with one of these wet glasses cleaning cloths;
- Remove the plastic protection layer of the Brotect Anti-Glare Screen Protector (just peel if of halfway);
- Position and “attach” the surface of Brotect Anti-Glare Screen Protectors on the Garmin Edge 840 screen;
- Peel of the remainder of the protection layer and place the full Brotect Anti-Glare Screen Protector on the Garmin Edge 840 screen;
- When needed push-out air bubbles with a cloth or a bankcard, but that is hardly needed in my experience;
All 5 steps take less than 2 minutes, when you are a bit experienced in installing screen protectors.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point for a set of 2x Brotect Anti-Glare Screen Protectors for Garmin Edge 840 and Garmin Edge 540 Cycling Computers is € 4,50. A same price point can be expected for the Brotect Anti-Glare Screen Protectors for the Garmin Fenix 7 smart watch. In practice I always purchase 2 sets, but honestly I don’t think I have ever opened up the second package.
For me the price-point is very reasonable given the quality product you get. As of the iPAQ 3970 timeframe, so roughly 20 years now, I use anti-glare screen protectors. The matt finish provides better reading and less reflection in bright light conditions. The Brotect screen protectors are in my honest opinion also easy to apply and fit perfectly.
For me it is simply a no-brainer to protect the touch screens of the valuable electronic devices we own.
